      Mrs. Hannah Jane Hughes

The Death Angel visited the home of Mrs. Sallie Osborn on February 29, 1920 and called away her loving mother, Mrs. Hannah Jane Hughes. "Aunt Hannah," as she was known to her friends, was born at Georgetown, O., on November 13, 1836 and lived to reach the age of 83 years, three months and 16 days. With her parents she came to Kentucky when about 16 years of age.

She was married to Chas. Hughes February 19, 1854. To this union ten children were born. Eight have passed to the Great Beyond and two survive: G. W. Hughes of Rectorville and Mrs. Sallie Osborn of Poplar Flat. She also leaves to mourn her loss 16 grandchildren and one brother, C. W. Moore of West Union, O., a host of nephews and nieces and friends. Her husband preceeded her to the grave June 29, 1911.

She joined the Christian church at Bethany early in life and lived in the faith of that church unto the end.

She had been in failing health for quite awhile and suffered more than we know, as she was very patient and complained very little. Her body being racked with pain and life no more a pleasure, she expressed a willingness and a desire to go home to live with Jesus. When being asked by her daughter a few days previous to her death if she would like to have a minister to call on her, she replied, "All is well, and a minister can do me no good."

While it was hard, yes, so hard to say good bye forever on earth, she left the blessed assurance that if we are faithful and trust in the love of Jesus we can some day go to her where there will be no more parting.
